Raedfast licence key

Raedfast licence key

The Raedfast licence key is stored in the Raedfast database. Normally the database will be supplied to you with the licence key already entered into the database.

The licence is time-limited however. When the existing licence expires, you will need to purchase a new licence and enter the new licence key into the database.

If you have more than one Raedfast database, you will need to enter the new licence key into each database.

Viewing your licence data

To view your current licence, click on the Help button on the Menu screen of the Raedfast front-end, then click About RAEDFAST.

Expiring licences

Thirty days before your licence expires, the Raedfast front-end will issue a warning each time you open it.

If the licence expires, and a new one is not issued, you will no longer be able to use the Raedfast front-end. The front-end will display an error message when you try to connect to a Raedfast database with an expired licence key:

You will still be able to access the data in the SQL Server and Analysis Services databases.

Entering new licence data

The licence key is held in table rb.Parameter in the SQL Server database.

There are three parts to the key:

  • Licensee

  • Licence No

  • Licence Expiry Date

To enter a new licence key, open the rb.Parameter table in SQL Server Management Studio and overtype the existing values with the new values.

Note that the Licensee, Licence No and Licence Expiry Date must all correlate: you must set all three correctly for the key to be valid.

When the new key has been entered, the Raedfast front-end will be enabled.

Remember to enter the new key into the rb.Parameter table in each of your Raedfast databases, if you have more than one.
